Poll Shows Ted Cruz Leading Beto O’Rourke By 11 Points
A new poll released by Quinnipiac University has Senator Ted Cruz leading his Democratic challenger by double digits. In the last poll Quinnipiac released in April, Cruz was leading Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke by just 3 percentage points.
According to the latest poll, Cruz now leads O'Rourke by 11 points, 50-39. According to the polling firm, Cruz now leads among men 57-53% and women 44-42%.
The Quinnipiac poll also shows Cruz with a slight lead among Hispanic voters 46-44% while white voters back Cruz 62-28% and O'Rourke leads with black voters 70-15%.
According to the poll, President Trump has a 47% approval rating in Texas which is up from the April survey when just 43% approved of the President's job performance.
The poll was conducted May 23-29 and surveyed 961 registered Texas voters with a margin of error of +/-3.8 percentage points.
