An area museum has been recognized by a traveling information website.

Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum, located on the campus of West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas, has received the 2014 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award.

The award honors hospitality excellence, and is only given to establishments that constantly achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor.

In order to be considered for the award, businesses must maintain an overall TripAdvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, and the site uses an algorithm to determine the honorees.

“PPHM is thrilled to be selected for this award,” said PPHM Director Guy C. Vanderpool. “Currently, PPHM is ranked the number one attraction in Canyon, Texas, and has a five star rating on the site, and we are very proud of that.”

Marc Charron, president of TripAdvisor for business, said “The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers.”

PPHM is the largest history museum in Texas, with more than 285,000 square feet and more than two million artifacts dedicated to preserving the area’s past.
