Texas A&M Puts the Brakes on Breakdancing in Art Galleries
Look, I know we all loved the 2024 Summer Olympics and the breakdancing segment (#RaygunFanForLife), but this may be getting out of hand.
Breaking it Down at the Art Gallery
Hey, if you get the sudden urge to bust it down after a long day, I get it. The problem lays within the where you decide to do it. A public park? Perfect. Your own home? Even better. Texas A&M's art gallery with fragile glass cases all over and guests trying to enjoy artwork? Perhaps not.
Unfortunately, this hip-hop-hothead wanted to display his fly skills in the gallery as well.
A Texas A&M student was caught on security cameras whippin' out the handstands and backflips while onlookers watched in amazement.
The crazy thing is that, in an email to the Houston Chronicle, the gallery staff clarified that he was NOT practicing his breakdancing routine, but rather his actions were for something else.
The Source of Origin
If you are wondering what the post from Tamugalleries was referencing, then look no further than the recent Olympic games in France. In a test of human strength, endurance, and skill, one category garnered the most attention out of all: breaking.
Also known as breakdancing, the star of the show was a performer named Rachel Gunn. Going by the alias "Raygun", she stole the spotlight for her eccentric and unique approach to the freestyle dancing medium.
Unfortunately, most of the public response was either mockery or flat-out disappointment.
All that being said, whether this A&M student was indeed breakdancing or not, the references back to the Olympic breakdancing incident clearly lives on.
