Voters in Lubbock Lubbock showed up to cast ballots in mass on Monday, the first day of early voting for the November 6th election.

According to the Lubbock County Elections Office, 9,191 voters cast ballots on Monday. That number far exceeded the number of votes cast on the first day of early voting in 2014 when 2,408 voters cast ballots. On the first day of early voting for the 2016 Presidential Election, 8,238 voters cast ballots.

Throughout the day, citizens in Lubbock reported on social media having to wait in lines at numerous polling locations in Lubbock.

Most midterm election years show a decrease in voters, but across Texas high turnout was being reported.

Early voting continues in the November 6th election until Friday, November 2nd.
