One Arrested Following Overnight Hit and Run Involving Motorcycle
One person has been arrested in connection to a hit and run crash that left one seriously injured in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 5th.
Lubbock Police responded to 48th Street and University Avenue at around 12:50 a.m. to reports of a crash involving a black Dodge Charge and a motorcycle.
KAMC News reports the motorcycle was traveling northbound with the Dodge Charger, driven by the now identified 18-year-old Juan Flores, traveling behind it. It's said the Charger collided with the back of the motorcycle and then fled the scene.
While fleeing, police say that the Charger struck a parked vehicle on 46th Street. A witness followed the Charger to a residence in the 4600 block of Belton and then contacted local police.
Officers with LPD arrived at the scene and arrested Flores for Failure to Stop and Render Aid as well as Intoxication Assault.
The driver of the motorcycle, who has yet to be identified by police, was transported by EMS to University Medical Center with serious injuries. The current condition of the motorcycle rider is unknown.
Flores' bond has yet to be set, but it has been confirmed that as of Tuesday afternoon at 5:40 p.m., he remained jailed in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
