A Lubbock man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit and foot chase on Friday, October 28th.

KAMC News reports that a Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop on an SUV at around 9:30 p.m. This was near Duke Street and Frankford Avenue. The SUV was apparently speeding and driving on the incorrect shoulder.

The driver of the SUV failed to stop and continued southbound on Frankford Avenue, crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of 4th Street and Frankford. The driver ran from the vehicle but was later arrested near the Walmart at 702 West Loop 289.

The other driver that was involved in the crash at 4th and Frankford was uninjured.

The suspect has since been identified as 39-year-old Austin Ayers. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Evading Arrest, Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.
