Lubbock Police Department Officer Brody Goswick responded to a citizen's urgent request for help while he was off-duty Tuesday afternoon, July 28th, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Officer Goswick was the first to be on the scene of an accident, and the driver was in urgent need of help. He was able to take quick action and assist in rescuing and applying first aid to the victim's arm. This heroic action deserves recognition, and the department's Facebook post is a proud salute for their officer.

Here's what the LPD shared on Facebook:

On July 28, just before 2:15 p.m., Officer Brody Goswick was off duty when a concerned citizen flagged him down about an accident.
He arrived and was the first on-scene. He noticed the driver's arm had been pinned underneath the vehicle and he needed help fast.
Almost immediately, Officer Goswick applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and stayed with the driver until EMS arrived.
Every single day our officers make us proud, but even off duty, they continue to be there when Lubbock citizens need them most.
Thank you, Officer Goswick, for going above and beyond the call of duty!

We are proud to salute Officer Goswick on his call to duty that went above and beyond. It's with great respect that we acknowledge our Lubbock Police Department for the work they do, putting their lives on the line for us every single day.

Our thoughts and prayers go out for the victim and their family.
