Odessa Man Pleads Guilty After Travelling to Lubbock With Plans to Have Sex With 11 Year Old

An Odessa man charged with enticement and attempted enticement of a minor pleaded guilty last week after admitting that he came to Lubbock with the intent to engage in sex with an 11-year-old girl.
Authorities learned of 35-year-old Andrew Jaquez after investigators received information from a woman who told authorities that she and Jaquez were at one point in a relationship and that their talks regularly ended up on the sexual abuse of children. The woman claimed they broke up because of Jaquez's incessant discussions about sexual acts with children.
The woman eventually agreed to let authorities pose as her to communicate with Jaquez. During this time, sexually explicit messages were exchanged between Jaquez and undercover investigators.
Jaquez was arrested by federal authorities in Lubbock on July 7th, 2021 after he allegedly arranged to travel from Odessa to Lubbock to meet and have sex with an 11- year-old girl. After Jaquez was taken into custody, he admitted to sending the messages, as well as other explicit messages online with other minors.
EverythingLubbock reports that as of Friday, September 24th, the plea deal remains unaccepted by a judge. If accepted, Jaquez faces a minimum of 10 years in federal prison.
