NWS Releases Reports on Sunday Tornadoes in Lynn County

The National Weather Service released its report about the tornadoes in Lynn County that occurred on Sunday, May 5th.

KAMC News reports that the first tornado formed around 5:45 p.m. 8 miles northwest of Tahoka, and traveled southeast. It had peak winds of 120 mph, a length of 17 miles and a width of 1.2 miles.

This tornado was designated as an EF-2, and reached wind speeds of 120 mph. For context, an EF-1 is the weakest tornado on the scale, whereas an EF-5 is the strongest.

The second tornado touched down around 7:10 p.m. near O'Donnell. This tornado had peak winds of 90 mph, a length of 5 miles and a half-mile width. It was also rated an EF-1.

No injuries were reported as a result of either tornado.
