The 45th Annual Ranch Day at the National Ranching Heritage Center is this Saturday (April 11) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Julie Hodges told Lubbock's First News.

There will be over 30 activities for kids and families, including the Texas Tech University Equestrian Center doing horse rides for the kids and the Ranch Horse Team giving demonstrations all day. There will also be two chuck wagons that will be cooking food for people to sample throughout the day. Kids can do anything from learn how to rope, churning butter and hearing the history of some of the structures at the National Ranching Heritage Center.

"Every kid that comes we're going to be hiring them as a ranch hand for the day," said Hodges. "They'll get a work card and they'll have to go and do at least six activities to get their work card filled out."

The kids will get paid by the Matador Ranch Office and they can take that money over to a commissary that is set up for the kids to go shopping for a prize for all their hard work for the day.
