Summer Youth Classes At The National Ranching Heritage Center

If you have a child that may be interested in history and in particular, the history of this area, the National Ranching Heritage Center has a great opportunity this Summer for children who have completed first through fifth grade.

The National Ranching Heritage Center will be offering Summer Youth Classes June 13-17 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes are divided into two different groups. Children who have completed first or second grade will go through classes on pioneer living and ranch hands or ranch arts and crafts. Meanwhile, those children who have completed third, fourth, or fifth grades will focus on frontier crafts and trades, ranch art, and Western movie making.

According to a press release from the National Ranching Heritage Center, students will also get to build a covered wagon and more!

From building a covered wagon, exploring historic structures and learning important ranch skills to studying ranching history through art projects and producing a Western movie, there is a Summer Youth Class activity for all areas of interest.
All classes will take place at the NRHC and will be taught by professional educators and NRHC staff. Registration is $100 for Ranching Heritage Association members and $125 for non-members. This sounds like a very unique way for kids to learn about the South Plains and the way life used to be, while also having fun with their peers. It's a great way to start learning to have a deeper appreciation of the area and where we are now.
