On Friday, February 12th, Lubbock Police were involved in a chase that led to multiple vehicle crashes.

At around 5:47 p.m., Lubbock Police responded to the United Supermarkets in the 1700 block of 50th Street. 52-year-old Juan Flores was accused of stealing another man's tools out of his pickup truck.

KAMC News reports when officers arrived on scene, the victim pointed to the vehicle Flores was driving as he drove past a police vehicle. The officer turned on his lights and siren, but Flores continued driving.

Eventually, Flores approached a red light at the intersection of 98th Street and Indiana. It's said he ran the red light, crashed into another person's car, and continued to evade police. He continued westbound, made a U-turn, and crashed into another vehicle. Police specifically noted that Flores did not stop and render aid.

One of the officers crashed into Flores' vehicle in attempt to stop him, and it worked.

Reports say Flores continued to resist arrest after the chase, keeping his arms underneath his body, but he was eventually detained.

The victim of the first crash was transported by EMS, and their condition is unknown.

An officer searched Flores' car and found the stolen tools mentioned before along with a baggie of methamphetamine. Flores has been charged with evading police, theft and failure to stop and render aid.
