Multiple Accidents Over the Past Week Across Lubbock
Multiple crashes have occurred over the past couple weeks. Here of some of the incidents.
One person is dead and two left injured after a two vehicle collision on August 19 in Southwest Lubbock. Lubbock Police responded to the crash around 12:45 a.m. at South Loop 289 and Slide Road. When officers arrived, one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while two individuals had minor injuries. Due to the wreck, all lanes on Slide Road were closed and traffic was detoured to the South Loop 289 access roads. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a school bus on August 16 near Reese Center. Texas DPS reports the crash happening at around 7:20 a.m. near State Highway 114 and County Road 6700. The crash involved two other vehicles. School officials said the bus was transporting 14 Frenship ISD students, but no injuries were reported. The bus only suffered minor damage, including a scratch on the bumper. Parents of the students riding the bus were immediately notified.
A one vehicle accident near 19th Street and Quaker Avenue on August 12 caused power outages in the area. Initial reports say a vehicle crashed into a utility pole after 12 p.m. leaving nearly 600 Lubbock Power & Light customers without power. Crews quickly arrived to restore power to affected individuals. No information is available on injuries suffered in the crash.
