An annual Lubbock fundraiser will take place this week.

The 23rd Annual Mayors’ Beans and Cornbread Luncheon will be held Friday, March 2nd at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and is hosted by mayors from across the South Plains.

The Mayors’ Beans and Cornbread Luncheon is Hospice of Lubbock’s largest fundraiser of the year. Beans, cornbread, dessert, and drinks will be provided by River Smith’s, and live music by the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine and the Stars of the Cactus Theatre.

Also, a “tip your waiter” contest will be held, as local notables and community leaders will be acting as waiters. The waiter with the highest amount in tips will win a traveling “Golden Apron” trophy at the end of the event. All money raised through the contest will go to benefit Hospice of Lubbock.

Tickets for the luncheon are $10, and can be purchased at the door or by visiting www.hospiceoflubbock.org. You can also call Hospice of Lubbock directly at 795-2751.
