Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, GOP strategist Matt Mackowiak spoke with Chad about current events in the Republican party, with the number of candidates increasing weekly.

Mackowiak discussed the campaigns and poll numbers of Jeb Bush, Rick Perry and Ted Cruz, as well as other candidates.

Regarding former Texas Governor Rick Perry's ability to build support and status in the race, Mackowiak said,

I do think his message is resonating, and he's getting great earned media in these local markets when he goes out and campaigns, so I think they have, you know, something to build on, a real foundation. He's going to have to, he's going to have to perform well in the first debate and keep building.

When asked by Hasty about Donald Trump's recent announcement entering the campaign, Mackowiak said,

I know that some folks, some of your listeners, and some conservatives across the country love Trump. I'm definitely not in that category. You know, to me, he's just not a serious presidential candidate.
