Starting the week Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Republican strategist Matt Mackowiak joined Chad to talk about the GOP weekend in Iowa and the start of the 2016 election.

Hasty and Mackowiak talked about the Republicans working this weekend to gain support in the first nominating race for the Presidential election of 2016. Among the possible candidates discussed were Ted Cruz, Ron Paul, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Rick Perry, Scott Walker and Chris Christie.

About the field competing for the GOP nomination, Mackowiak said,

This thing remains a jump ball, and Iowa is going to be a real free-for-all. ... The establishment side of the bracket is going to be just as competitive as the conservative side. In fact, I think the establishment side is going to be better funded.

Also discussed was the beginning of the new governing session and leadership in Austin.
