Monday on The Chad Hasty Show, Washington Times columnist and political analyst Matt Mackowiak joined the show to talk about politics and news in the state of Texas and in the U.S.

Mackowiak and Hasty discussed the hot topics in the 85th Texas Legislature including school choice and sanctuary cities, as well as the big national stories involving Donald Trumps' accusations that the Obama administration was wiretapping phones in Trump Tower.

About the ongoing tensions between the Texas House and Senate, and the disappointing lack of conservative legislation being produced, Mackowiak said,

This remains a pretty conservative state. Why we continue to have problems passing conservative legislation in the Texas House, I think is a legitimate question people need to ask.
