Nearly 40 people were arrested recently during what authorities are calling a "coordinated suppression operation" in the Texas Panhandle. The Texas Department of Public Safety said the operation focused on violent offenders.

The result of the operation was positive and many dangerous individuals were taken off the streets.

Crime Suppression Operation in the Texas Panhandle

According to the Amarillo Globe, the Texas Department of Public Safety along with the Hereford Police Department, and Deaf Smith County Sheriff's Office made dozens of arrests during the operation in the Texas Panhandle.

The Department of Public Safety says that during the two day operation, violent offenders and fugitives with outstanding warrants were apprehended. 39 people were arrested and booked in the Deaf Smith County Jail on more than 40 different charges according to the report.

"This operation reflects an ongoing commitment by local and state law enforcement to proactively identify and apprehend individuals involved in criminal activity in Texas," DPS officials said. "By removing violent and repeat offenders from the community, DPS and law enforcement partners are making Deaf Smith Co. — and our entire state — safer for everyone."

Outstanding Warrants for a Variety of Crimes

According to the Texas Department of Safety, some of those arrested had outstanding warrants for the following:

Threat against a peace officer/judge, burglary, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, harboring a runaway child, assault, and more.

Good job to law enforcement in the Panhandle who took part in this operation.
