It was a sad night on Thursday when Texas Tech softball lost to UT in game two of the 2026 Women's College World Series (WCWS) Finals, sending them home and conceding defeat to the Longhorns for the second year in a row.

See how they lost game one with this story.

However, the grind certainly does not stop for the Red Raiders, and they push on to carry the fight for next season.

Down, but Not Out

Texas Tech can hold their heads high knowing that the only time they lost two consecutive games this entire season was in the World Series Finals. If a team had to choose how they go out, that's probably the best they could ever do.

Yes, the UT Longhorns have earned their second WCWS National Champion title in a row, so respect where it's due, they played some great ball this season as well.

If you want to catch the full game highlights from TTU vs. UT in the final match of the season, you can either visit ESPN's YouTube page, or check out the story on the Texas Tech Athletics website.

NiJaree Canady Moving On

Kaitlyn Terry, who proved her immense strength as one of Texas Tech's pitchers, will remain for another year, so let's hope the team is able to take the program to the World Series for three years in a row next season!

Unfortunately, this was star pitcher NiJaree Canady's last year at Texas Tech. She led the team to the World Series for the first time and brought them to the cusp of a national championship title in back-to-back years.

With an ERA (earned run average) of 1.87 this season, Canady helped lead the charge of the Red Raiders all the way to the end.

When one door closes, another one opens. Canady was the second pick in round 1 of the AUSL college draft to play for the Texas Volts in their upcoming season.

The Volts kick off their season with a three-game series against the OKC Spark beginning on Tuesday, June 9. Check out the full Volts schedule on their webpage.
