Nicole Goin of Lubbock was sentenced to 4 years of probation on Friday, July 22nd after admitting to aiding in the suicide of her husband.

Back in July of 2017, Nicole and her husband, Matthew Goin, had agreed to a suicide pact. Matthew was apparently on community supervision for a felony charge of evading arrest with a vehicle and was worried about going to prison for failing a drug test. Nicole said that she didn't want him to "die alone."

They both took an excessive amount of pain medication, but Nicole woke up 24 hours later to find her husband face-down on the floor, his body cold to the touch. Nicole said that she moved the body onto the bed, but it fell off.

KAMC News reports that instead of calling 911 immediately, Nicole apparently left the apartment and drove to tell her mother-in-law about what happened. She says she got lost, however, and ended up at a convenience store in Lamesa.

Lubbock Police found the body when they responded to a welfare check at the University Club Apartments, located at 5540 19th Street. Matthew was found face-up on the bedroom floor and pronounced dead at the scene.

Nicole was accused of tampering with the body, assisting suicide and perjury. She was sentenced to 2 years on Friday but her sentence was suspended to 4 years community service.
