A Lubbock woman claims that her ex-boyfriend was trying to break into her home, so she held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

Lubbock police were called for reports of a burglary on Tuesday, March 1st, 2022 in the 1000 block of North Indiana Avenue.

The victim, whose identity wasn't released, said that the suspect, 55-year-old Donovan Perkins, had caused problems before, prompting her to purchase a gun. KAMC News reports that on March 1st, Perkins allegedly broke the window of the victim's home with a hand drill. This prompted her to point her gun at him.

Perkins then retreated from the window and laid down on the front sidewalk. The victim was found holding Perkins at gunpoint even when police arrived. The neighbors were the ones who called LPD.

Officers ordered the victim to put down the gun and noted that Perkins appeared to be in a "manic state." It's said that he was not cooperating with the officers' commands, and the victim thought he was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Perkins was arrested for burglary and remains booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center.
