Lubbock Woman Arrested After Spitting on Police Officer Outside Club
A Lubbock woman was arrested after it's said that she assaulted Lubbock Police Officers and a security guard at Kong's, located in the 1700 block of Texas Avenue.
KAMC News reports that officers were notified of a fight in progress just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021. Officers arrived at the scene to find the suspect, Mariah Kay Jenkins, walking out of the club with a security behind her. That guard said that Jenkins had bit him in the chest.
Jenkins claimed that she was being harassed by the security guard.
Officers noted that Jenkins smelled like alcohol and was acting "hysterical," so they attempted to place her in custody. However, Jenkins resisted, assaulting one of the officers. The other officers assisted in restraining Jenkins, but she alleged spit on one of them.
It got bad enough to where officers placed a spit mask on Jenkins, but she would at some point remove it on her own and continue assaulting officers, apparently almost biting one of the officers that attempted to place the spit mask back on.
Eventually, Jenkins was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with assault on a peace officer, harassment of a public servant, resisting arrest, resisting transport and public intoxication.
