Devastatingly hot temperatures are back here on the South Plains. In Lubbock Thursday temperatures reached 108 degrees, tying a record set in the 1920’s.

Many Lubbockites have lost their air conditioners because of the high temperatures. The units aren't prepared for the high usage, and KAMC 28 reports that air conditioning companies are covered up with service requests.

Lubbock Hospitals have also seen many cases of heat exhaustion. Residents of "Tent City" say they've had to seek shelter at other locations because of the intense heat and hot winds. The Salvation Army has announced that they will open their doors if temperatures exceed 100 degrees by 3p for the rest of the summer.
