The topic of data centers continues to stir West Texas, no matter what side of the debate you stand on. Can we afford the massive amount of water needed for each center? What about the land required to house such a building?

It's these questions that have Texans concerned about the future. This is why the City of Lubbock is hosting a public meeting for all citizens in July to discuss what's top of mind surrounding data centers.

When Is the Public Meeting in Lubbock?

The public meeting on data centers will be on July 7 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center banquet hall, and it will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Be advised that in order to attend the meeting, you must first sign up just outside of the banquet hall.

Whether you are planning on attending the meeting or not, all Lubbock citizens are still invited to complete a brief online survey. The purpose of the survey is to put on "paper" your thoughts before fully fleshing them out during the in-person public meeting.

The Survey Results Are Important

The results of the online surveys will be featured during the meeting where they will be addressed by the city.

In order to take part in the online survey, you must access the portal during its live window which runs between now and Thursday, July 2, at midnight.

Access this link to read more information on the meeting as well as to gain access to the online survey. The public meeting will also be livestreamed on Optimum Channel 2 (www.mylubbock.us/video).

We're blessed to live in a country that allows public input. In fact, we've been doing this more or less for major decisions for over 250 years! So, take advantage of the power you hold as a Lubbock citizen and make your voice heard!
