A Lubbock teenager has accepted a plea deal in a case of aggravated assault.

According to court documents provided to EverythingLubbock.com, the assault took place June 14th, 2020 in the 1500 block of East 7th Street.

Lubbock police were notified of shots fired at about 5 a.m. When officers arrived, they found one man with injuries related to a gunshot wound. He told police that someone had fired multiple shots into his home from outside.

Eighteen-year-old Tikece Keviyon Jolly and his brother, 20-year-old Tydrick Quashawn Ranson, were both seen running from the scene of the shooting and were quickly taken into custody by police.

During questioning, Jolly told police that he and his brother had orchestrated the shooting in retaliation for being targets of a separate drive-by shooting. Further, Jolly told officers that his girlfriend was the one who purchased the rifle he used in the shooting. It's unclear if his girlfriend knew about Jolly's intentions. Ranson had also been armed with a rifle during the shooting.

Both firearms were recovered by police in the area where Ranson and Jolly attempted to flee. They were both charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest, and possession of marijuana.

Because Jolly was under indictment for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle when the shooting took place, he has accepted a plea deal and will plead guilty to the lesser charge of Receipt of a Firearm While Under Indictment. He faces up to 5 years in prison.
