A Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a very low-speed accident on Wednesday morning with a citizen on a bicycle. The incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. While the cyclist was okay, they did leave with more than just a story to tell.

LSO Deputy Involved in a Low Speed Collision

Wednesday morning at around 10:00 a.m. a Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy was at the intersection of 34th Street and the access road of I-27. The light turned green and that is when the bicyclist walked Infront of the unmarked patrol vehicle.

According to a press release, the deputy slowly accelerated his vehicle and cyclist crossed in front of the vehicle. The deputy hit his brakes quickly but the bumper of the vehicle hit the bike. The bicyclist and their dog were knocked over but unharmed. The bike was not damaged and the citizen refused any medical treatment.

Cyclist Given Citation

After a review of the collision was conducted. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputy wrote the citizen a citation for not following crosswalk rules. The Sheriff's Department reminded everyone in a press release that motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are all responsible for obeying crosswalks and traffic signal when traveling on roads.
