Lubbock Police Search for Man Accused of Kidnapping Young Woman
A Lubbock man accused of dragging a woman to his vehicle is still wanted by police. On Friday, November 10, 29-year-old Vivian Moreno was reported missing and believed to have been kidnapped by 30-year-old Joe Lopez.
Officers with the Lubbock Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of East Slaton Highway Carriage House on reports of a check subject call after someone saw Lopez trying to enter a room by force. KAMC news reports that Moreno told police that she opened to the door to prevent anymore damage from being done but this allowed Lopez to get inside of the room. Moreno states that she was thrown to the ground and dragged outside to Lopez' car.
Witnesses state that they could hear Moreno yelling that she did not want to get in the vehicle with Lopez. It wasn't until Saturday, November 11, that police were able to find Moreno, safe, in the 900 block of 66th Street at a local motel. Responding officers did try to apprehend Lopez while he was in his vehicle but Lopez was able to drive through a neighborhood and evade police.
Lopez is described as a light skinned latino/hispanic man, weighing 220 lbs, standing at 6'1 with a noticeable tattoo on his throat that reads the number "100". The Lubbock Police Department does ask that if anyone has seen Lopez, or know his whereabouts, to come forward and contact Crime Line at 806-741-1000, you can remain anonymous.
