On Wednesday, April 29th, Lubbock Police provided more details surrounding a shots-fired call in East Lubbock.

Officers arrived in the 1700 block of East 1st Place on Sunday, April 26th and found several people outside after hearing multiple shots fired.

One of the responding officers says he assisted with a homicide investigation just days prior on the same block, and believes the more recent shooting may have been some form of retaliation.

On April 24th, 17-year-old Darrien Lee Nichols was involved in a shooting that left him dead.

KAMC News reports that officers located several shell casings in a backyard on the 26th and theorize there were two shooters.

After attempting to gain a response from the house by knocking loudly and identifying as police, the back door was kicked in and 4 people were located inside the home.

They were all arrested for warrants and other charges, including discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities and possession of drug paraphernalia.
