Monday night, a police officer was involved in a two-vehicle accident. The crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of 82nd Street and Slide Road.

According to KAMC News, the on-duty officer was driving westbound on 82nd Street, respond to a call with the police vehicle lights and sirens activated. Police say that's when a woman driving a four door passenger vehicle, described in one report as a Saturn sedan, failed to yield the right of way and collided with the officer’s car as she drove southbound through the intersection on Slide Road and 82nd.

Both the officer and the woman were taken to separate local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. KAMC News reports that the officer was treated and released Tuesday morning.

No charges have been filed against the woman at this time, and it's unclear if any will be. Lubbock police officers are still investigating the crash scene and had the intersection blocked off Monday night.
