Update: According to Lubbock Police Department Public Information Officer Tiffany Pelt, the 911 system in Lubbock County is currently operating as normal. In an email, Pelt asked that citizens refrain from calling 911 just to see if it's working, which can stop people with actual emergencies from getting through to a dispatcher.

Original story: At around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning (March 26th), the Lubbock Police Department reported that the 911 system for Lubbock and Lubbock County is down.

There has been no timeline given on when the 911 system may be functional again. In the meantime, the LPD has given alternative numbers citizens can call depending on the emergency that you have.

If you want to reach the police department, call 806-775-2811 or 806-775-2812.

The number for fire-related emergencies is 789-0871.

The number for EMS is 775-8725.
