Lubbock Police Arrest Two for Firing Handgun from Apartment Balcony
Friday night (Feb.6) around 10:45 p.m., Lubbock Police received calls of shots fired near 50th Street and Chicago Avenue.
Police responded and began a search of the Village West Apartments in the 5400 block of 50th Street.
An officer observed a suspect standing on the balcony of a unit fire four shots from a handgun north across 50th Street.
Officers quickly arrested the suspect on the balcony and a second person with the shooting suspect. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
Thirty-two-year-old Byron Devon Thomas (pictured, above) was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony: Deadly Conduct-Discharge of a Firearm and Failure to Display Driver's License.
The second person at the scene, 25-year-old Jasmine Williams, was charged with a third-degree felony: Deadly Conduct-Discharge of a Firearm. She was also charged with Failure to Identify to a Police Officer.
No injuries were reported due to the shooting. Thomas and Williams were booked into the Lubbock County Jail. No bond has been set.
