Wednesday on Lubbock's First News, Nancy Neil with Lubbock Parks and Recreation gave information on the upcoming holiday camps for kids and other Parks and Recreation events.

The holiday camps are for kids ages 6-12 years old. The first week of camp will be on December 23,26, and 27. The second week will be on December 30-31 and January 2-3. At Maxie and Hodges community centers, for the first week the cost is $48 and the second week is $64. At the Maggie Trejo, Simmons, and Rallings centers the cost is $21 the first week and $28 the second. The camps run from about 7:30am-5:30 pm.

Neil said they are working to offer fun and educational activities for kids, such as games, arts and crafts, singing and dancing, and outdoor activities. The camps will be held at five different locations. She said, "We try to be affordable, but we also try to be that value where kids are really going to have a great time."

Neil also described the 31st annual New Years Eve Gala, where there will be food and live music. She talked about Santa Land, ending December 23, and the Pancho Claus event, December 22. At the Pancho Claus event, children receive a bag of fruit and a toy, donated by groups who volunteer for the event.
