Lubbock Mayor Pro Tem Karen Gibson sat in for an extended interview with Paul Beane on Monday’s edition of the Chad Hasty Show.

Gibson, who represents City Council District 5, briefly covered a variety of topics, from Health Department funds to fracking, synthetic marijuana and the local economy.

The main focus of this interview was on Lubbock Power & Light problems and solutions. Gibson will be attending the meeting tomorrow that will be open to public comment at 6:15. She stated that she is looking primarily for an explanation in today’s meeting. She stated her support of those making their voices heard today.

“It’s time to stop pointing fingers. We’ve just got to figure it out and fix it. To figure out what went wrong and to figure out why these fuel costs were so high.”

In response to the question of moving to self-sufficient generation of electricity, Gibson noted it would be extremely costly in the short term, but in the long run it would be the best way to go.

Gibson also took a number of listener calls during Monday's Chad Hasty Show.

In conclusion, Gibson stated her plan to rerun for her current position, as well as her hope for the council to come together through improved communication.
