Lubbock Man Returns Lost IDs Found on Walk

A Lubbock man found multiple driver's licenses and social security cards while he was walking through his apartment complex.

Justin Williams says he often searches dumpsters to find things he can refurbish, like TVs, phones and clothes.

KAMC News reports while he was walking he spotted some papers out of the corner of his eye, and when he went to pick them up and throw them away, he noticed they were IDs and social security cards.

Williams went to social media to find the owners of the IDs.

He eventually found the owners of most of the documents, and a lot of them lived in his complex. The owners mentioned their cars were broken into earlier that week.

Williams says he was the victim of identity theft 6 years ago and thinks of that any time he sees a situation similar to the one he found himself in.

Public Information Officer for the Lubbock Police Department, Allison Matherly, highly recommends that residents call the non-emergency line if you encounter anything similar.
