A Lubbock man was killed during the early morning hours of Friday, April 1 in Crosby County.

Texas DPS reported that 26 year-old Austin D. Redder, of Lubbock, was killed around 4:20am on US 82, 7 miles east of Crosbyton.

Redder was driving a 2006 Hyundai Elantra westbound on US 82, about seven miles east of Crosbyton, when he lost control of the vehicle. Redder drove the Elantra through a curve into a grassy median and struck a guardrail.

Following the crash, Redder stepped out of the Elantra and was standing in the left lane of westbound US 82. He was then struck by a 2016 Dodge Journey driven by Debrah Atkinson of Spur, TX. Redder suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the accident.

Texas DPS says the 68 year-old Atkinson was not injured in the accident. No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
