A Lubbock man was shot in the leg during an apparent drive-by while he and his friends were out getting snacks and drinks.

It happened a bit after 12 a.m. on Sunday, January 9th.

The victim, who wasn't identified, told police that he and 3 others had left an apartment to get snacks and drinks nearby. This was near the 5300 block of 51st Street.

While the 4 were on their way back, they heard the gunshots and soon after noticed blood coming from the victim's lower leg. The driver actually thought at first that one of his tires had a blowout, but the subsequent gunshots let him know what was really happening.

None of the other occupants of the vehicle were injured.

Police arrived at the apartment to find the victim sitting in a chair with a belt wrapped above his wound. An officer applied a tourniquet at the scene. The victim was soon after taken to University Medical Center.

Police noted a single bullet hole on the rear driver's side door and a bit of blood on the floorboard.

KAMC News reports that as of Thursday, January 13th, a suspect had yet to be located. At this point, it's unclear if a suspect has even been identified.
