48-year-old Matthew Thomas Courtney, who admitted to robbing 2 Lubbock banks in February of 2020, has been sentenced to over 9 years in prison.

KAMC News reports that at the time of the robberies, Courtney was on supervised released after serving time for charges related to illegally possessing firearms.

The banks in question were City Bank at 601 University Avenue and Aim Bank at 6502 Slide Road.

By committing the robberies, Courtney violated his release and will have to serve an additional 2 years in prison.

After this sentence, he will be on supervised release again for 3 years.
