Have you ever complained to an out-of-town friend about how bad the driving is here in Lubbock, only to have them respond with, "Oh, this is nothing compared to Dallas," or Houston or whatever city they're from? Well now, there is documented proof of what we've known all along: Lubbock is not a safe place to drive in.

Lubbock ranks 10th on a list of the 15 most dangerous cities to drive in. The list is based on which cities have the greatest number of vehicular deaths according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Lubbock had a 15% fatality rate for every 100,000 people, and had 33 total fatalities reported. The most dangerous city to drive in was Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a 22% fatality rate.

I find it interesting that, out of the entire state, Lubbock is the only Texas city to make the list. So, why does Lubbock rank so high on this list? I'm gonna say it's a combination of drivers who are more preoccupied with their cell phones than their driving, drivers who are in such a hot hurry to get to their destination that they don't care who's in front of them, and drivers who, basically, just don't care.
