The new Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts And Sciences is very, very close  completion. They're putting the finishing touches on the building, as well as the new bistro, Rave On, which is scheduled to open on February 5th, 2021.

Getting a sneak peek at the venue, one can attest that it is nothing short of breathtaking. There's literally no bad seat in the main theatre. The views are incredible, and the acoustics will be perfect for any and all types of music.

Before or after the show, or even if there's no event, Rave On will be a cozy spot for dinner or cocktails that almost seems too nice for such a dusty, West Texas town as Lubbock.

From the outside looking in, those with preconceived notions and negative opinions about the Hub City would argue that this mecca of fine arts would stick out like a sore thumb on the Lubbock cultural landscape.

So again, the question is asked: Are we deserving of this palace of Fine Arts and culture?

YES!

Lubbock may have a bit of a reputation of being a cowtown, etc., but when you take a look around, the city is more vibrant and active than we should be. Considering the fact that we have such an influence from Texas Tech University and a youthful spirit, and this all makes perfect sense.

We're not Amarillo. We're not Odessa. We are a cultural, economic and industrial hub that attracts those who want to make a better life and create good jobs.

Here in Lubbock, we deserve the best that Texas can offer. So, yes, a venue like The Buddy Holly Hall absolutely belongs here. And placing the name of a cultural icon like Buddy Holly on the door illustrates the history and influence that Lubbock has had on the world of entertainment.

Lubbock is not what the outside world thinks of it. Lubbock, one would argue, is the future of Texas. As Texans realize that there is a world outside of Dallas, Austin and Houston, Lubbock deserves the spotlight. It's our time.

Check out some of the photos I recently took inside the hall to get a better idea of what our city is getting.
