Lubbock Man Gets 35 Years for Abusing a 5‑Year‑Old
A man in Lubbock recently pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a little girl last year. As a result, he was sentenced to 35 years in prison without parole.
Who is Jason Trinidad from Lubbock?
22-year-old Jason Trinidad pleaded guilty on June 25 to sexually abusing a girl who was just five years old in 2024.
He had been held at the Lubbock County Detention Center since September 30 on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than six years of age: a first-degree felony in the State of Texas that is punishable by 25 years to life in prison.
How Did Jason Trinidad Get Arrested?
The 22-year-old received his charges after an incident that occurred on June 12, 2024.
A 5-year-old girl was rushed to the Covenant Children's Emergency Room to be examined for sexual assault. After speaking with police, the girl's mother informed them that Trinidad inappropriately touched her daughter.
She also went into graphic detail on how he allegedly rubbed "healing ointment" on her daughter's arms and thighs before engaging in sexually abusive acts.
At first, Trinidad dismissed the allegations, but once interviewed with detectives, he admitted to the sexual assault.
Jason Trinidad's Plea Agreement
As part of Trinidad's plea bargain, a second charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact was dropped. This would have been a second-degree felony as well with a punishment of up to 20 years in prison.
In addition to the 35-year prison sentence, Jason Trinidad will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
