A group of mothers supporting a university in College Station will host a scholarship fundraiser in Lubbock next week.

The Lubbock Area Chapter of the Federation of Texas A&M Mothers Clubs will host a scholarship fundraiser on Thursday, November 7th at the Cactus Theater.

The event will be “Monster Hits through the Decades,” and will feature stars of the Cactus Theater and the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine playing music from the 1960s through the 1990s.

The concert, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre, located at 1812 Buddy Holly Avenue, is the group’s largest fundraiser.

“There are at least 100 students, probably more, from Lubbock and the surrounding area attending school in College Station,” said Leslie Cranford, president of the group. “Our fundraisers directly support them.”

The club gave five $800 scholarships in April for the 2013-14 school year.

The scholarships are open to all area junior and senior Aggies, regardless of their parents’ membership in the club. Applications will be available in February.

Tickets are available by calling 762-3233 or by visiting www.cactustheater.com.
