Wednesday on Lubbock's First News, Gretchen Scott of the Lubbock Heritage Society spoke with Tom and Laura about efforts to save the Godbold building.

The building in question is that currently housing Cafe J and Chrome on 19th Street and University Ave. The owner of the building, Carlton Godbold, is currently talking with Clayton Isom about selling it after 22 years of ownership. The building was previously the Plains Hospital and Clinic, then St. Mary's Hospital. The Lubbock Heritage Society believes the building is a historic landmark of the city and should be preserved. Scott said Isom indicated he might build a hotel or high rise building in its place. She said, "We don't want to lose anymore of our heritage. The time to preserve it is now. We can't do it 100 years from now when we are all gone."

The Lubbock Heritage Society held a meeting Wednesday to announce its campaign. More information can be found at www.savethegodbold.com
