On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Dr. Karen Garza was asked, if she had the authority to change education in Texas, what would she do?  Her answer?  Change the state-mandated testing system.

“I think we can hold schools accountable, but we don’t have to test every child every year,” Garza said.  “In some cases, we’re testing children more than one time a year.  I think there’s ways to test different grade levels and hold the schools accountable for student progress.  I just think we’ve gone way too far."

Garza said she thinks a lot of parents agree.
