A former high school teacher is facing a felony charge and has finally been arrested after being accused of having an "improper relationship" with a male student in 2023.

In 2023, Molly Colleen Spears, who is now 35, was accused of having a sexual relationship with a male student. According to the NY Post, she is also accused of contacting the student via text to meet up. The age of the student has not been released.

According to reports, Spears began working in the Barbers Hill Independent School District in 2001. She was employed from August of 2021 until June of 2023. She worked as an arts and language teacher. She was charged with second-degree improper relationship between educator and student.

According to the NY Post, her teaching certificate is listed as "inactive".

State records show her teaching certificate has been listed as “inactive” since September 2024, with the educator under investigation for alleged misconduct, according to Texas Education Agency records.

The former teacher was indicted by a grand jury on February 8 of 2024. A warrant was issued for her arrest just days later. According to the NY Post, it's not clear why it took so long to take her into custody.

She could be sentenced to 2 to 20 years in prison and face a fine up to $10,000.
