Lamesa Shooting Suspect Identified
Lamesa police have confirmed the identity of a suspect wanted for the Tuesday murder of 22-year-old Dominque Adams.
On Tuesday, February 16, around 3 p.m., Lamesa Police responded to the call of shots fired near South 4th St. in Lamesa. EMS and police arrived on the scene to find Dominque Adams shot and in critical condition.
Adams was taken by ambulance to O’Donnell to reach an Aerocare helicopter for an emergency flight to the hospital, but would die prior to arrival.
KAMC News reported Wednesday that Lamesa Police named Joe Johnson (17) the lone suspect in the deadly shooting.
According to police, the incident began while Adams was in a vehicle and Johnson was walking along South 4th Street.
Adams reportedly stopped and got out of the vehicle to initiate a confrontation with Johnson and that's when the fatal shot was fired.
Police are pursuing this as a murder case.
