
Judge Ruben Reyes Appointed as Chair of Criminal Justice Advisory Council
A local judge has been named as chair of a state advisory council.
Ruben Reyes, judge of the 72nd Judicial District Court in Lubbock and Crosby Counties, has been appointed as chair of the Governor’s Criminal Justice Advisory Council by Governor Rick Perry.
The Council will advise the governor on the creation, staffing, operations, and performance of specialty courts to ensure the rights of participants are protected.
Reyes, presiding judge of the Lubbock County Adult Drug Court and past president of the Texas Association of Drug Court Professionals, received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a Law Degree from Baylor.
Others appointed to this committee include Joel Bennett of Austin, Judge Robb Catalano of Fort Worth, Alan “Clay” Childress of Leander, Mary Covington of Houston, Becca Crowell of Dallas, Debra Fesperman of Sherman, Tara George of Houston, and Judge Dibrell “Dib” Waldrip of New Braunfels.
