Jason Johnson, political strategist and owner of J2 Strategies, joined The Chad Hasty Show on Tuesday to discuss a couple of political issues in the news in Texas. The discussion centered around the reported secret audio recording of a meeting between Speaker Dennis Bonnen, Rep. Dustin Burrows, and Michael Quinn Sullivan of Empower Texans.

Many of those who have heard the audio, including elected Republican officials have said the full audio should not be released to the public. Jason Johnson, who has not heard the audio yet disagrees. Johnson told KFYO that if the audio isn't released than it will be viewed as "a sloppy political game".

"If this group is going to release the tape, do it. Let's rip the band-aid off and let's do it. From what it sounds like, there's no doubt, Speaker Dennis Bonnen said some really stupid things. There is also no doubt that Michael Quinn Sullivan went it with some sort of plan to record the guy."

Johnson also discussed how the retirements of four House Republicans in Texas could impact the state in 2020.
