Every year Lubbock's South Plains Fair is such a fun and big event. This year it's back and we're so excited.

There are some big changes from 2022 to 2023 for the South Plains Fair: new upgrades, new rides, new food and also some new entertainment.

The fair's preview night will kick off on Thursday, September 21st, 2022 with Buck-a-Ride night from 6 to 11 p.m. This is a great time to go for families, with free parking and admission, and $1 rides all night long.

The actual fair goes from Friday, September 22nd to Saturday, September 30th.

The big thing to note for this year is that the fair now has a clear bag policy. All bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or a small clutch and are subject to search.

They have also done some improvements on the fairgrounds such as 8 covered seating areas throughout the food midway, they added air in the Livestock Pavilion for the shows, upgrading the parking lot with millings that were donated by the construction crew doing the work on 19th street.
The fair also added all-new overhead doors to pour commercial buildings and changed the website/ticketing company so now you can purchase admission online ahead a time and use credit cards at the gate, which is AWESOME!
Last year they added beer and wine stations and this year they expanding the beer locations and making them bigger and brighter so that they stand out. There is a new food vendor El Meson Del Maestro, doing tacos.

This year will be bigger and better than 2022 because they will have 42 food vendors so all your favorites should be back and new ones. The fun will be brought to by Reithoffer Shows for all the carnival and ride fun.

Just like last year, there will be no shows this year at the Fair Park Coliseum. While that may be a bummer to music fans who dig the free concerts featuring popular musical acts, there's a silver lining. Coliseum updates may be on the horizon. The South Plains Fair wants to update the venue before they host shows there again.

Rock-It the Robot will even be back this year to see everyone to see and dance with.
