Lubbock’s Favorite Fall Tradition Brings Beer, Food, And Family Fun To Spirit Ranch

Lubbock may be a long way from Munich, but apparently nobody told Spirit Ranch.

Oktoberfest is returning to Lubbock on Sunday, October 11th, and this year's celebration has just about everything you'd expect: German food, live music, local beer and grown adults attempting to prove their strength by holding a giant mug in front of them for an unreasonable amount of time.

Oktoberfest Is Back at Spirit Ranch

Spirit Ranch and Scoggin Dickey Parts are presenting the 6th Annual Oktoberfest from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 11th, at the Pavilion at Spirit Ranch, 701 Regis Street.

If you've been to one of these before, you already know Spirit Ranch is a pretty great location for it. Tucked into Lubbock's Escondido Canyon, the property is filled with large trees, green spaces and scenery that can make you briefly forget you're still within the Lubbock city limits.

And the event has become something of a fall tradition. The celebration continued in 2024 and returned as the fifth annual Oktoberfest in 2025. This year's event marks year number six.

That's a LOT of Lubbock-Area Beer

One of the coolest things about this Oktoberfest is the emphasis on local and regional breweries.

This year's lineup includes Brewery LBK, Good Line Beer Co., Mano Negra, Pondaseta Brewing Co., Tall City Brewing Co., Two Docs Brewing and Triple J Brewery.

That's a pretty impressive representation of the craft-beer scene around this part of Texas.

There will also be German food and local vendors, so you can make an afternoon of eating, drinking and wandering around Spirit Ranch.

Live Music and the Return of the Stein-Holding Contest

You can't have a proper Lubbock party without live music.

SPiVEY and Joy Riot will both perform during the afternoon.

There will also be a best-dressed contest, so this would be the appropriate time to finally get some use out of that lederhosen you've inexplicably had hanging in the closet.

And yes, the beer stein-holding competition is back.

It sounds incredibly easy until you've been standing there for a while with your arm straight out and suddenly that beer stein feels like you're holding a transmission.

Bring the Kids, Too

Despite all this talk about beer, Oktoberfest at Spirit Ranch is designed as a family-friendly event.

There will be bounce houses, games and other activities for the kids, meaning parents can enjoy the afternoon without hearing "I'm bored" approximately every seven minutes.
