If you live in or around Lubbock and are tired of waiting until Saturday every week to stock up on local produce at your favorite Farmer’s Market, this hidden gem is for you.
Located in Idalou, Texas, just a short drive from Lubbock, is Idalou Harvest. This orchard grows a variety of fruit, produces wine, and sells locally grown produce of all kinds.
You can visit Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 5:30, Saturday from 9:00 to 5:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 4:00. They offer a wide variety of produce including peaches, purple hull peas, tomatoes, onions, okra, cherries, zucchini, squash, melons, and more.
They also have special Saturday Markets with live music, wine tasting, shopping, and more.
If you want to stay up to date with everything they currently have to offer, there are two Facebook pages you can follow. The first is the official Idalou Harvest page, and the other is Juicy Lucy’s Veggies who grows the vegetables they sell. Lucy’s page also shares a variety of other content including recipes, harvest updates, and other Texas-grown and Texas-made products.
Shopping locally for everyday items like produce is a sustainable way to enjoy your fruits and veggies, support local businesses, and get to know your community. There is so much West Texas has to offer, so why not take it all in and enjoy what is created here?
If Idalou is too far for you, you can always visit the Wolfforth or Lubbock Downtown Farmer’s Markets.
